This impressive growth has come across from Tempos four distinct product lines three-wheelers, multi-utility vehicles (MUVs), light commercial vehicles (LCVs) and tractors.
As per the preliminary information, the companys LCV sales (both small-load carriers and vans) have grown by 30 per cent (3,087 numbers as against 2,371 numbers previous year) against the industry growth of about 25 per cent.
MUVs (passenger and goods carriers) have also recorded a sales growth of 29 per cent (6,519 numbers against 5,051 numbers previous year), whereas the industry has grown by only 16 per cent.
Additionally the three-wheelers (passenger and goods carriers) have also witnessed a significant increase of 26 per cent (24,931 numbers against 19,739 numbers previous year) vis-à-vis the industry growth of about 14 per cent. Thus, in all the three segments, the growth of Tempo is higher than the industry growth.
Tempos Balwan range of hi-tech tractors continues to make its impact in the tractor industry. Tempos tractor division has registered a remarkable growth of 75 per cent over last year, thereby bucking the trend of the tractor industrys decline of 24 per cent. The sale of tractors during March 2003 stood at 522 numbers.
The key factors responsible for this across-the-board substantial growth are Tempos thrust on the development of a new and strong sales channel and aggressive promotional efforts.
