With sales of 127,022 units for the month of Jan'04, Bajaj Auto has registered an overall increase of 4.8 per cent in sales over the same period as in Jan'03.
Mumbai: What is heartening for the company though, are the figures for exports, which have registered an impressive jump of 49 per cent for the combined two and three-wheeler sectors. Also, happily for the company, the sales of motorcycles at 84,500 units have shown a 12.6 per cent increase over the same period last year. The continued strong demand in the three wheelers sector has given the company sales figures of 20,150 units, an upside of 15.6% over the corresponding period of January '03. This includes 2,230 units of the Bajaj GC 1000 - Company's latest higher payload goods carrier, whose production is now being increased to 2,500 units. The 12.6 per cent growth in the sales of motorcycles to 84,500 units, over January'03, have basically been aided by growth in its Executive & Premium segments. In the premium segment the Bajaj Pulsar twins have recorded sales of 24,489 units against 22,990 units sold in January 2003. In the executive segment the Bajaj Caliber 115 and the Bajaj Wind 125 together accounted for 16,826 units (up by 102% compared to last January's 8,315 units). In January '04, 49% of the motorcycle portfolio has been contributed by the Executive and Premium models, as against 41.9% last Jan. These heartening results will doubtless raise a cheer for the company, which has also been showcasing its new products at the AutoExpo 2004. On display is the new 110 cc CVT scooter "Bajaj Wave" with DTSi technology, as well as the good old Bajaj Chetak, this time with 'wonder gears'. Along with the new Super 100 motorcycle, the items, according to the company, are evoking an encouraging response. The 2003 Sales for Bajaj Auto have been $1,064.3 million with the 2003 Net Income at $112.2 million. MOTORCYCLES Aided by growth in executive & premium segments - Bajaj recorded a sales volume of 84,500 motorcycles in January 2004 a 12.6 per cent growth over January 2003. In the premium segment, Bajaj Pulsar twins recorded 24,489 units sale against 22,990 units sold in January 2003, while in the executive segment Bajaj Caliber 115 and Bajaj Wind 125 together accounted for 16,826 units (Up by 102 per cent compared to last January's 8,315 units). In January 2004, the contribution of executive and premium models rose to 49 per cent from 41.9 percent in January 2003, of its motorcycle sales. THREE WHEELERS At 20,150 units (up 15.6 per cent over January 2003) demand for three-wheelers continues to be strong. This includes 2,230 units of the Bajaj GC 1000 the company's latest higher pay-load goods carrier, whose production is now being increased to 2,500 units, within the over all capacity increase to 25,000 units per annum. EXPORTS Exports crossed the 15,000 mark and at 15,029 units exports increased by 49 per cent over 10,089 units exported in January 2003.
