In its fight with Reliance Jio, state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has come out with a deep discount plan, offering up to 60 per cent discount for its postpaid customers. Named the 'Loot Lo' plan, the offer applies to seven postpaid plans and is available from 1 November.

BSNL's new plans come with 500 per cent more data, which is a 60 per cent discount on its postpaid plans, which include Rs225, Rs325, Rs525, Rs725, Rs799, Rs1,125, and Rs1,525, and is available on a pan-India basis.

Those who have opted for Rs99, Rs149 will get free data of 500MB, while those who opt for Rs225 and Rs325 will get 3GB and 7GB, respectively, while under other plans, including Rs525, Rs725, Rs799, Rs1125 and Rs1525, users will get 15GB, 30GB, 60GB and 90GB data, respectively.

Additionally, there is no daily limit on the above-mentioned plans.

BSNL had earlier announced the launch of a new 4G-enabled feature phone in partnership with Micromax. Known as Micromax Bharat 1, the feature phone comes with a price tag of Rs2,200 and will be available at leading retail stores starting from 20 October 2017.

The data pack comes with a price tag of Rs97 and will offer unlimited internet, unlimited calling, and messages every month. The phone is a direct competition to the Reliance JioPhone with such kind of specs and price.

BSNL's offer follows Vodafone India's announcement of discounted plans amidst a market squeeze by Reliance Jio Infocomm.

The state-run telecom operator, which has been on a long slumber, seems to have woken up to market realities after the entry of Reliance Jio.
