New Delhi: Leading Indian express logistics solutions provider AFL Private Limited (turnover Rs 875 crore) has announced the launch of 'AFL WiZ Express', a division of AFL Private Limited, to provide an extension of its courier service that the company describes as the country's first retail courier product. Aimed at providing accessibility to the retail customer segment comprising individuals, housewives, students and traders, the product is being made available in their neighborhood market outlets such as grocery stores, medical stores and telecom centers among others. With its value for money pricing at Rs 60 for a courier delivery (for documents weighing upto 250gm) anywhere in India (AFL says it delivers to over 5,000 locations), 'WiZ' is an affordable product and provides complete convenience due to its standard pricing unlike the industry standard charges varying according to distance charts or zones. "By creating a fixed price product and using a non-traditional distribution route, we hope to improve our brand outreach," says Sanjoy Roy, business head, express division, AFL Private Limited. Roy adds,"The launch of the WiZ is intended to revolutionise the courier industry in India by making it as easy for a consumer to send a courier, as it is for him to buy soap or toothpaste in the neighboring market today." Through 'WiZ' AFL promises to provide customers with various value added features such as : -
SMS Delivery Updates providing them confirmation of the delivery of their shipment. -
Tamper Proof & Weather Proof Packaging -
Any Day Pick Up including Sundays or holidays The WiZ brand has been initially launched in Mumbai and will be available through over 300 outlets, says Manoj Chandra, head, market development and brand communications, AFL. "It will soon be available across all metro cities in India and we intend to have a distribution reach of over 5,000 outlets by the end of this year." An acknowledged logistics industry major in India, AFL diversified into the movement of person-to-person money transfer services as the primary agent for Western Union Financial Services to offer money remittances in India. AFL also has a joint venture with Carlson Wagonlit Travel, the dominant player in corporate travel management in India.
