Acer India creates new volume products division

The launches are part of the company's strategy to capture market share in the growing small and medium businesses (SMB) and small office / home office (SOHO) segments. The products sport multimedia-ready features such as a multimedia keyboard and optical mouse at end-user prices of Rs 18,999 and Rs 20,999 respectively. Speakers with sub-woofer, internal modem and an upgrade to 17 inch monitor are available at an additional Rs1,750.

Commenting on the new business division and products introduced, S Rajendran, general manager, sales and marketing, (consumer products group) Acer India, said, "We have been aggressively focusing on the enterprise and home segment but there was a huge market comprising of SOHO and SMB that we previously left untapped. With the new volume product division we are now able to bridge the gap that existed more effectively. These customised products have excellent features, competitive pricing and strong post-sales support, and we are certain that these products will meet the requirements of this target vertical."

The Acer Power S200 is an AMD Athlon XP 2600-based desktop equipped with 128-MB RAM, 40-GB hard disk, 1.44 FDD and CD ROM. The operating system is Linux and it has a 15-inch CRT MPR II-certified monitor, USB and internet.

The Acer Power S100 is fitted with an Intel Pentium 4 processor, 2.4 GHz, 128-MB RAM and 40-GB hard disk. It also has 1.44 FDD, CD ROM, 15-inch CRT MPR II-certified monitor and Linux operating system. Both products come with a one-year standard warranty.

The company is offering several promotional schemes and back end offers like 'Monsoon Dhamaka', which is valid till the end of this month.

A nation-wide authorised support partner (ASP) network along with increased number of logistics centres and trained engineers form the core of strong post-sales support.
