The iPhone 7 not expected to be very different from the iPhone 6s

The iPhone 7, which is due to be released this year, would not be dissimilar to the iPhone 6s, in looks, reports mobile news website site  www.knowyourmobile.com citing sources.

According to analysts, there was little reason for current-generation iPhone 6s users to upgrade. They add that Apple was apparently reserving the big changes for 2017's iPhone 7s which is expected to be a ''ground-up'' redesign of the company's flagship product, featuring an all-new, all-glass chassis and brand new OLED display technology.

According to some sources 2017 would be the iPhone's 10th birthday, so it stood to reason that Apple would do something special, which meant potentially no ''S'' update and perhaps even a new naming convention, something like iPhone X, for instance.

Meanwhile, Apple blogger John Gruber made the following remarks in the matter, ''I think next year's phone, the 2017 model, the one that will come out in September of 2017. What I have heard, now this is not really from the rumor mill but just scuttlebutt that I've heard, is that it will be an all-new form factor.

"And there have been some rumors, I guess, but what I'm saying is that I've heard this independently and it is completely getting rid of the chin and forehead of the phone. The entire face will be the display. And the Touch ID sensor will be somehow embedded in the display. The front-facing camera will somehow be embedded in the display. The speaker, everything. All the sensors will somehow be behind the display.''

Though the iPhone 7 is not likely to arrive before September, according to the grapevine, the new phone is expected to be faster and feature an upgraded screen and longer battery life.

The Wall Street Journal says it seemed that Apple would ditch the headphone jack on the iPhone and users would need to plug in via the lightning port or by Bluetooth.

According to commentators, by eliminating the port, Apple would be able to slim the device down and make it more resistant to water.
