iPod's new arrivals scheduled for October roll out in India, says Apple news

Apple Inc will introduce a new range of iPod products in India during the upcoming festival season of Dussera and Diwali. The range includes the second generation  iPod touch, the new iPod nano and the iPod shuffle.The products will be available through Apple authorised dealers, the company said.

According to Apple, the new iPod touch will be available in three variants including the 8 GB model, priced at Rs15,100 and can store upto 1,750 songs. The 16 GB model can hold up to 3,500 songs and is priced at Rs19,100. The highest model in the iPod Touch with a capacity of 32 GB can store up to 7,000 songs and has been priced at Rs25,000.

Apple says that the new iPod touch works with the latest iTunes 8 and the iTunes Genius feature, which allows users to automatically create playlists on the move. Improved battery life in the new touch provides up to 36 hours of audio playback or 6 hours of video playback, which is enough time to watch three or four movies in a single charge.

Available in new stainless steel design, the iPod touch features 802.11 b/g WiFi connectivity. The new touch has integrated features and volume buttons located at the ideal for listening to music, dialogue, and action without headphones. It also features a built in  Nike+ iPod support wireless support. According to the company, users can start jogging by simply slipping the Nike + iPod Sensor (available separately) into their Nike+ shoe. The sensor communicates wirelessly with the iPod touch, tracking the time, distance, and calories burned. It even gives voice feedback on the progress of the run

Applications such as the multi-touch, the accelerometer, real-time 3D graphics, and 3D positional sound will enable users to play hundreds of exciting games and innovative applications.

The new sleek iPod nano with a thinness of 6.2mmm, supports the latest iTunes 8 and the iTunes Genius. The nano  has features such as video recording,  shake to shuffle button, which responds to the shake by playing the next song. The nano has a 2-inch (diagonal) liquid crystal display with blue-white LED backlight with a 320-by-240-pixel resolution at 204 pixels per inch.

The spoken menus, an useful feature for the visually impaired allow listeners to hear many of the names of menus, song titles, and artists without viewing the screen. The nano also features an alternative large font to make menus easier to read. A high-resolution LCD display with adjustable contrast and backlight settings makes it easier to read in low light. Another interesting feature is the captions, which appear in video on display when they are present using a legible, high-contrast white-on-black font.

The built-in rechargeable lithium ion battery enables up to 24 hours of music play when fully charged  and video playback time of up to 4 hours.

The entry level iPod nano is available for Rs 9,700.

Apple's new lineup also include the iPod shuffle available in two variants - the 1 GB model priced at Rs2,700 and the 2 GB model priced at Rs3,800. Apple will launch the shuffle in three different colours in India.The iPod shuffle comes with a built-in lithium polymer battery with a playtime of up to 12 hours when fully charged.

The American firm will also introduced the new iPod classic in the Indian market, with increased memory of upto 120 GB.
