Crossword Penguin fest offers literary fiesta

Bookstore chain Crossword and publishing house Penguin Books India have come together for a publisher-led promotion with the Crossword Penguin fest that offers discounts on popular titles by Penguin Books.

The fest, which started on 22 October, will continue till 14 November, 2010, offers discounts on the best of fiction, children's and management books, travelogues and travel writing, and other genres.

The fest will carry works by bestselling authors like Thomas Friedman, Sudha Murty, Arundhathi Roy, Devdutt Pattnaik, Orhan Pamuk, Ayn Rand, Vikram Chandra, Vikram Seth, Khushwant Singh, William Dalrymple and others.

The offers are valid across Crossword stores in the Mumbai, Bengaluru, New Delhi and Hyderabad.

Launched in 1992, Crossword currently has 64 stores across 14 cities in the country in Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Aurangabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Hyderabad, Jaipur, New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nashik, Pune, Nagpur and Vadodara.

Penguin Books India, headquartered in New Delhi, publishes its own books in the English language as well as in Hindi, Marathi, Urdu and soon in Malayalam and distributes books from overseas publishers including the Penguin Group, A&C Black, Bloomsbury, Faber & Faber, Greenwood Publishing, Quercus and Sterling Publishing.

Founded in 1985, Penguin began publishing in October 1987 with seven titles and currently publishes more than 200 new titles every year.
