Daihatsu to recall 891,525 vehicles over engine sensor fault
12 Sep 2013
Japanese carmaker Daihatsu Motor Co yesterday said that it is recalling 891,525 vehicles, most of it in Japan, due to a fault in the engine sensor.
Daihatsu, Japan's biggest 660 cc minicar manufacturer, will recall 11 types of mini cars made between 2005 and 2010.
In a filing with the Japanese transport ministry, Daihatsu said that because of a weak coil, the sensor could break and the engine could stop when the car is running or may not start at all.
The carmaker said that no accidents have been reported due to the fault.
Osaka-based Daihatsu is Japan's oldest car manufacturer and is 51 per cent owned by Toyota Motor Corporation.
