French automaker, Renault group, reported an increase of 8.3 per cent in worldwide sales of its three brands, Renault, Dacia and Renault Samsung Motors (RSM) in April 2008 compared to the previous year. In India, Renault, which started operations in 2007 through a joint venture with Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has sold 1,715 Logan units this year The company sold 228,146 vehicles (PC+LCVs) worldwide with Dacia sales increasing by 17.1 percent, Renault by 7.5 per cent and Renault Samsung Motors by 6.6 per cent year on year. Renault sales in Europe was at 147,322 units up by 3.5 per cent, which positioned the automaker among Europe's top three brands in the PC+LCVs segment. The company's subsidiaries in major European countries showed increasing sales figures in April. The European market witnessed an increase of 7.5 per cent in total auto sales compared to 2007 The new Twingo sold almost 12,000 units and Laguna sales were at an impressive 9,500 units. Launched in early 2008, Laguna Estate has received a warm response, with sales totaling nearly 16,000 units. Renault recently expanded the Laguna range with the introduction of Laguna GT. The company also recorded strong sales of the other brands such as Clio Estate(5,266 units), Kangoo (4,756), Modus and Grand Modus (8,105). In Europe, Dacia continued to grow sales, with a 34.3 per cent increase. In June, the company plans to expand the Sandero range currently made up of Logan sedan and Logan MCV. Outside Europe, Renault sales rose by 18.5 per cent. In the Americas region, in a market that expanded by 20.3 per cent, the Renault group reported strong sales growth (+31 per cent). Boosted by Sandero sales the group recorded an increase of 85.8 per cent to set a new sales record for the automaker in Brazil with more than 11,000 units sold. Argentina also posted a sales increase of more than 36 per cent, thanks to Sandero. In the Euromed region, on a growing market (+27 per cent), Renault group sales rose by 8 per cent. In Romania, the group continues to hold market share of more than 34 per cent, while monthly sales in Russia, monthly reached a record-beating high of over 11,000 units. Algeria (+31.7 per cent) and Morocco (+21.7 per cent), also set new sales records in April 2008 In Asia-Africa, the group posted strong sales growth of 30.5 per cent, with Renault Samsung Motors growing sales by 7.4 per cent in Korea.
