New Delhi: Reports in the media suggest that India's Kingfisher Airlines will convert options for five A380 super jumbo's into firm orders, doubling its order for the aircraft to a total of 10.

The airline is due to start international operations this year.

"Now that I have secured all the necessary clearances, I am planning to convert the options to confirmed orders," Vijay Mallya, the chief executive officer of Kingfisher, was quoted as saying by the Mint business daily.

The Indian government said this month Kingfisher would be permitted to fly overseas later this year. "We will be operating all non-stop flights to international destinations," Mallya told the newspaper.
