AI Express to launch low cost flights from Kolkata to South East Asia

Kolkata will be better connected with Southeast Asia when Air India Express launches operations to Bangkok, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur starting in October.
Three AI Express planes will fly thrice a week to Bangkok, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. Thrice-a-week flights will also be started to Dhaka.

AI chairman and managing director V Thulasidas announced the new flights on Monday 3 September, and said Kolkata-Bangkok- Kolkata flights would start on 7 October, with a one-way fare of Rs1,499 plus taxes. The one-way fare to Singapore will be Rs4,999 plus taxes.

These flights will take off from Kolkata around 7 am. The flight to Kuala Lumpur would restore services in the sector after more than a year. Malaysia Airlines stopped operations to Kolkata in April 2006.
