Mumbai: The Tata Group has marked its entry into airport retailing with the launch of a Croma outlet at Mumbai airport's domestic terminal. The outlet has been branded as Croma Zip, and offers electronic items.

The Croma stores are operated by the Tatas through a alliance with Australia's Woolworths Ltd.

Ajit Joshi, CEO, Infinity Retail Ltd, which manages five Croma stores including the Croma Zip store, said "In the next three months, we expect a 25% conversion rate from the large number of passengers who pass through this terminal. We are looking for opportunities to set up more such stores at airports in India."

Around 7,000-8,000 passengers pass through the Mumbai domestic airport terminal in a day, according to aviation industry estimates. These estimates also suggest that passenger traffic at the Mumbai airport is rising by 20%, and is expected to reach 40 million by 2012-13.
